THE PHOTOGRAPHER

This site is an image based site displaying a range of photographs taken over many years. If you wish to go straight to the images then click on " Galleries" above.

My name is Roger Senior. I have been interested in photography for over 40 years.. My interest started probably as a result of seeing my father's photography. I used to watch him develop and print black and white photographs and always remember my fascination at watching the image appear in the developing tray as if by magic ! How things have changed now that the digital era has arrived. I studied photography at "O" and "A" level and joined the local camera club "Sheffield Photographic Society" for a few years. However, some 10 years ago I decided to move to Scotland to change career. Scotland had always been a great attraction for me as someone keen on travel, the great outdoors and hillwalking. My main area of photography is landscape and for this subject Scotland takes some beating especially in the UK.

A bit about the photographs, and the equipment used.

The original photographs were taken on various cameras, all of which were 35mm until I started to use "Digital" back in December 2001. My very first camera as a boy was a Brownie 127 (some people out there will remember this one!), progressing to Voitlander, Pentax Spotmatic, Canon AE1, Olympus OM1, Olympus OM10, Olympus OM2, Olympus AF10, Canon EOS 500. My first digital camera, in December 2001 was a Fuji 4800Z but after realising the potential of the digital photograph I now use a Canon EOS 30D. I also use a small compact camera (Canon A610) for hill walking expeditions.

The vast majority of non digital pictures were taken on slide film, with Agfa becoming the favoured type. Over 5000 slides have been taken both in the UK and various places around the world, of these, the largest percentage using the Olympus OM cameras listed above.

After moving to Digital in 2001, I soon realised that I had a large quantity of photographs which I could convert to Digital and produced straight prints or manipulate them in some way. I have started to convert some of the many slides into digital form but with over 5000 slides to examine and convert this is going to be a slow process.

I hope that you enjoy viewing these photographs. I would appreciate any form of feedback on either the photographs or the web site. This can be given by clicking on "Contact".
